St. Luke’s Rainbow Preschool is seeking a qualified and dedicated professional to serve as our Head Teacher and Director. This is a combined role offering the opportunity to lead both the educational and administrative aspects of our program in a setting that values compassion, structure, and child-centered learning.
About the Role
The Head Teacher/Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the preschool, as well as the overall leadership of the program. This includes:
- Developing and maintaining the annual school calendar and classroom curriculum
- Creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children
- Supervising staff and supporting a positive, team-oriented workplace culture
- Communicating regularly with families and the preschool board
- Coordinating school events and overseeing compliance with all relevant state regulations
- Implementing policies and practices that reflect the mission and values of St. Luke’s Rainbow Preschool
This is a hands-on position. The Head Teacher/Director will work directly with children each day, while also handling administrative responsibilities and ensuring high standards of care and education.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least one of the following qualifications, as outlined by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS):
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development
- Bachelor’s degree in any field, plus at least 6 credit hours in early childhood education, education (teacher preparation courses), or child/youth development
- Associate’s degree in early childhood education, education, or child/youth development
- Current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- High school diploma or GED and at least 3,000 verified hours of experience leading organized group activities for young children (including nanny or in-home childcare with written references)
- Valid Nebraska teaching certificate, or verified volunteer experience at a licensed childcare center located in an accredited or approved school
